Welcome to We'll Ready Anything Once
(twice if we like it)
Dear fine people!
Thanks for subscribing to this lovely errant newsletter by librarians who read too much. I am but your humble servant who reads too much (as of this writing, I’ve read over 20 books this year) along with her companion Natalie who chimes in on occasion.
The genesis of this newsletter was originally a blog where I was posting sometimes three times a week because of how much content I was consuming. I’ll read just about anything that strikes my fancy (as of writing it is Regency romance) and I want to talk about it. The blog seemed like a natural idea to start and I roped in Natalie to help.
But no one reads blogs anymore; everyone is on newsletters. (My inbox daily groans at how much and many I subscribe.) I backed up the site to Substack, canceled the domain renewal, and turned off webhosting. Thus, here we are.
But why book reviews? Everyone does book reviews. True, true, I cannot fault you with that line of questioning but people seemed amused when I talk about books so if a few are amused, why not more?
The plot of the newsletter is to talk about the good, the bad, and the ugly about the book. One common approach from book review blogger blogging template is to never talk about a bad book. Just don’t publish it if you think it is problematic or terrible or whatever. Bullshit I say! Book reviewers should pull no punches when writing a review. If you don’t like it, why not? If you do like it, why so?
I also want to present my style with a bit of sass and foul mouth. People are often to staid I found and sometimes a bit of shock can be good for the system.
I’ve gone on long enough. Welcome, welcome! If you have any suggestions, reply to this letter or leave a comment below!
love,
lisa x
